Healing in Community: Reducing Mental Health & Substance Use Stigma
Healing in Community is an interactive workshop that equips practitioners with culturally grounded, trauma-informed strategies to address stigma as a barrier to wellness support and healing — particularly within Latine and BIPOC communities.
Grounded in La Plaza's community-based healing model, the training introduces a Four Pillars Framework that weaves together somatic regulation, creative expression, storytelling, and cultural connection as interrelated pathways to healing. Through experiential practice, case scenarios, and reflective dialogue, participants explore how stigma operates at the individual, family, and systemic levels; distinguish cultural humility from cultural competence; and leave with practical tools to build trust, strengthen engagement, and cultivate culturally responsive support systems within their own organizations and communities.
